About Talsim

Talsim is a comprehensive hydrological modeling and decision support software designed to support a wide range of applications in water resource management — including the operation of water infrastructure, reservoir optimization, flood forecasting, climate change assessments, rainfall-runoff modeling, and more.

Developed by Sydro Consult GmbH, Talsim has been continuously refined over more than 20 years of use in real-world water management projects worldwide. With this new version of Talsim, a new generation of the software has been introduced — featuring a completely redesigned user interface, improved usability, and modern data structures, while retaining the trusted simulation engine at its core.

This new version introduces a completely redesigned user interface built on modern technologies. While the powerful Talsim simulation engine remains unchanged, the new interface provides a more intuitive, flexible, and visually rich experience for working with hydrological systems.

About this manual

This manual is currently a work in progress. We are starting with the most essential working procedures to help you get up and running as quickly as possible. You will find:

•Basic procedures and everyday use cases

•Core concepts and theoretical background to support your understanding

More advanced procedures, in-depth examples, and additional background information will be added over time. The manual will grow continuously as the software evolves and user needs develop.

To help you orient yourself, we have included the basic structure of the intended manual, including chapters that are still under development.

Talsim is now at the end of its practical testing phase at Sydro Consult GmbH and will continue to evolve. As new features are added, this manual will expand accordingly to guide you through the capabilities of this new generation. Changes and new content will be recorded in the What's new in this manual section. This will help you quickly identify what’s new and what has been improved.
