Simulation
After the Talsim NG model has been completely created, the settings for the simulation can be defined (time step, etc.) and the simulation can be started. The exact procedure differs depending on the simulation type. Standard simulation types can be configured and started directly in the GUI (the dataset is then exported in the background as an Ascii dataset, talsimw.exe is started and the results are imported back into the database). For other simulations the model must be available as an Ascii dataset, possibly including additional files. They can only be started directly via the executable program file talsimw.exe:
Type of simulation | Configuration in GUI possible | Running from GUI possible | Additionally needed files | Description |
---|---|---|---|---|
Long-term simulation | x | x | Continuous simulation mostly with time series as load (also with const. hydrographs) | |
Short-term forecast | x | x | *.pro | Event-based simulation with model rain or flood waves as load |
Variations | x | *var, *upd | Several calculation runs in which individual model parameters or simulation settings are varied. Can be calculated as a long-term simulation or as a short-term forecast. | |
Scenario simulation | *.sce, (*.paf, *.vol, *.dat, *.zf) | Several calculation runs as scenarios of different loads (Flood wave: *.paf, Time series: *.zf) and Starting conditions (Storage volume: *.vol, Start date *.dat). Can be calculated as a long-term simulation (*.zf) or as a short-term forecast (*.paf). | ||
Temperature modelling | *.tem | Long-term simulation in which the heat transport and the heat transfer between water and air is calculated additionally. | ||
Simulation with hotstart | *.abz, *.state | Allows saving the entire model state at a certain time during the simulation to file and to load such a state file for starting a new simulation |
