In case of a linear relation between inflow and outflow and a constant factor over the storage capacity, the duration line of the outflow is a curve corresponding to the inflow but reduced by a certain percentage. If the factor/storage capacity relationship remains constant, the duration line can be changed by varying the inflow/outflow relationship. An additional modification of the factor via the reservoir capacity has the advantage of being able to respond to certain filling states in order to prevent an emptiying or overflowing of the reservoir. | :In case of a linear relation between inflow and outflow and a constant factor over the storage capacity, the duration line of the outflow is a curve corresponding to the inflow but reduced by a certain percentage.
